Verödung von Besenreisern – was ist das?

P.S. Besenreiser (medizinisch: Teleangiektasien) sind kleine, dauerhaft erweiterte oberflächliche Blutgefäße. Sie erscheinen meist rot, blau oder violett und treten häufig an Beinen, manchmal im Gesicht auf.
Wie entstehen sie?
Die häufigsten Ursachen sind:
- Schwaches Bindegewebe (genetische Veranlagung)
- Venenschwäche bzw. gestörter Rückfluss des Blutes
- Hormonelle Einflüsse (Schwangerschaft, Pille, Wechseljahre)
- Langes Sitzen oder Stehen
- Übergewicht
- Bewegungsmangel
- Alterungsprozesse
- Starke Sonnenexposition (vor allem im Gesicht)
Frauen sind häufiger betroffen als Männer, weil Hormone und Bindegewebe eine große Rolle spielen. Nach Schätzungen aus europäischen Gefäßstudien:
- Etwa 50–60 % der Frauen haben im Laufe ihres Lebens Besenreiser.
- Ab etwa 40 Jahren steigt die Häufigkeit.
- Bei Männern liegt der Anteil bei 20–30 %.
Besenreiser sind meist harmlos, können aber ein Hinweis auf eine beginnende Venenschwäche sein. Ob die private Krankenversicherung (PKV) die Kosten für eine Sklerosierung (Verödung von Besenreisern) übernimmt, hängt stark vom Tarif und der medizinischen Begründung ab.
